Christmas in New York is indeed amazing but since I live there my whole adult life I decided I want to spend Christmas somewhere special.
This Christmas was my first spent alone — and that was probably one of the best decisions I have made in a long time.
My adventures started in Munich.
When I travel alone which is 90% of the time I try to stay in a hotel which is around public transportation.
These time I pick the Sofitel after all was Christmas and a 5 stars hotel would not hurt and was next to train station.
Great rooms and the Christmas buffet was delighted, but you can find all about Munich on my post about Germany.
From Munich to Salzburg should cost you around 20€ to 40€ and will talk around 1 hour and 45 minutes and the train is very comfortable and have WiFI.
Mains station in Salzburg is very simple and will take you about 20m to walk to the center without luggage.
I stayed in a pension only 2 blocks away from the train station, which cost me no more than 25€ including breakfast.
From my hotel to the town was only 15m and was a lovely walk with a lot of historicals buildings on the way.
Christmas night walk was so lovely and peaceful. During the day this same spot is full of people walking.
The streets and the stores was beautiful decorated.
The next Morning I wake up feeling happy for my decision, what amazing country and what a great experience.
Mirabell Palace was beautiful I can only imagine this place when the flowers is fully blooming.
Also crossing Mozartsteg Bridge was breathtaking.
Walking around the old city will take you the entire day, not because it’s big but because is so many shops and little Christmas market.
Oh don’t forget to try some of the Christmas market drinks and food, beside will be cold and you will need it.
Indeed, a visit to one of the famous Christmas markets is incomplete without the obligatory draft of liquid yuletide cheer and perhaps some roared chestnuts to help the alcohol settle.
So if you decided to visit Austria doing the holidays don’t forget to take a lot pictures is indeed a unique experience.
If you have little more time I totally recommend a town in Germany no to far from Salzburg, Check my Germany post to se where.
