Just a 10 minute drive from Page, Arizona, is Horseshoe Bend.
Horseshoe Bend got its name because the Colorado River winds through Glen Canyon and carves out a horseshoe shape.
There is 10$ admission fee per car and it’s an easy walk to the viewpoint.
When we visited Horseshoe Bend, the classic blue water of the Colorado River was more of a green color, probably from algae!
With the combination of the blue sky, it was quite the sight to see.
HOW TO GET TO HORSESHOE BEND
Horseshoe Bend is located next to Page. To get to Horseshoe Bend, simply:
- From Page, take the Route 89 towards South
- After driving about five miles down the road, you will see a sign that says “Horseshoe Bend Overlook”, where you will find the parking lot.
Parking lot at Horseshoe Bend is $10. Although it is quite extensive, you may still have to wait to get a spot if you visit Horseshoe Bend during high season.
HOW far is HORSESHOE BEND FROM THE PARKING LOT?
From the Horseshoe Bend parking lot, you will walk 10 minutes along a 0.6-mile dirt path. Although the path is short, it can be hard, especially during mid-day in the summer. I recommend taking plenty of water with you since there is no way to get water supplies on the trail.

The closest airport to Horseshoe Bend is Las Vegas airport. You can find tourist offices with the infamous signs saying “Horseshoe Bend tours from Las Vegas” in a day.
If you prefer to visit Horseshoe Bend on your own, the easiest way is to rent a car. The distance between Horseshoe Bend and Las Vegas is a 450 km drive, which takes about 4 hours and a half to get to.
