No picture quite does justice to the national parks in Utah. Utah is home to some of the most spectacular national parks that are simply breathtaking. It is often said that it takes about two months or more to fully exhaust all the incredible places in Utah National Parks.

Getting to Monument Valley

Monument Valley isn’t close to anything, which is why it stayed off the radar for so long.

The closest airport is in Flagstaff, 176 miles away ( 2 hours and 50M). However, to fly into this airport from NYC, you usually have to change planes in Phoenix, which does not save you an time.

• Albuquerque – 324 miles ( 4 hours 57 M)
• Las Vegas – 400 miles ( 6 hours and 10m)
• Salt Lake City – 380 miles (6 hours)

We drove from NY witch las stop was Colorado to Monument Valley, which took about 9 hours and we spent the night there. The View Hotel need to be book with months i advance.

• Four Corners Monument – 105 miles
• Page, Arizona – 125 miles
• Grand Canyon (South Rim) – 180 miles

Access to the Monument Valley Tribal Park is on US-163 just north of the Utah-Arizona border. It costs $20 per vehicle (up to four people) to enter the park. Once you pay this fee, you can come and go as often as you like.

The Angels Landing
The Angels Landing stands at 1488ft above Virginia River and is one of the most thrilling and dangerous hiking spots all over the world. There are nature trails around this place that are also thrilling. However, this place is not ideal for children and people with any extreme medical conditions.

The Narrows
This is the place to get your feet wet as you navigate through the narrowest part of this national park. The walls of this gorge ascend to about a thousand feet tall on both sides of the river. It is recommended that you hike upstream, have fun for about two hours then head back. Nevertheless, for the daredevils, you may get a permit that allows you to hike downstream for about 16miles.
Places to stay
If you want to camp near the park it would be advisable to stay at the Watchman Campground that’s a quarter mile from the entrance in the south. This place has 180campsites and group sites that provide electricity and water. Those that would rather not camp out can seek accommodation in the hotels at Springdale.

2.Arches National Park
This national park is home to a few trails that are simply Gods masterpiece. Its 120square miles of deep red canyons, sandstone arches and pine landscapes
Eye of the Whale
This is a mini arch that is located in Herdina Park (a mini park within Arches). The arch is carved into looking like the eye of a whale hence the name. Rather than taking a right turn towards the window area, it is best to take a left at the Balanced Rock. This hike trail is blessed with an array of desert views that will keep you glued.
Sand Dune Arch to the Broken Arch
The first part of this trail (Sand Dune Arch) is highly populated whereas the Broken Arch rarely gets even half of that population. For more adventure, track the cairns for about a mile past the Sand dune and head on to the Broken Arch. The view of wildflowers and the silk rock is simply magical.

3.Canyon lands National Park
This is home to all backpacking trips and it is famous for its ability to offer deep solitude.
The Needles
This is home to over 60miles of hiking trails. This site has 30 established campsites that help you get in touch with nature and still give you that sense of tranquility. The trails along this district are marked by rock piles and are fairly trafficked.

Island in the Sky
This is another place excellent for backpacking and is a giant mesa that is cut by the Colorado River. As the clouds roll through the canyon, one is able to understand where the name Island in the Sky came from. Backpacking in this area demands a 1000 ft descent rocky talus slope to the land around the river.
This place however, has no established campsites but campers can pitch their tents about 1 mile from the road.
The Maze
This is highly reserved for the most experienced hikers and backpackers. To navigate the topography around The Maze requires skill and experience as it is the most remote part of the Canyon lands. This place is full of fun, adventure and a test of your hiking skills.
