We all have seen the classic skydiving photo of a person flying filled with energy and adrenaline and can’t help to think “I want to do that”, of course, I was no exception and this activity was on my bucket list for a long time. I’ll talk about the thrill I felt when I finally got the chance to do it:
I planned the experience with a bunch of friends weeks before, when the day finally came I woke up feeling excited and nervous at the same time, I couldn’t wait to jump. When we finally arrived to the venue, I couldn’t help but to start thinking a bunch of questions: what if the parachute doesn’t open?, how long does it last?, am I wearing the right clothes?
My heart was beating at double speed. We were each assigned a guide that explained all the process and cleared all our doubts from the beginning, that’s when I realized it’s a super safe activity and we’re very protected against any outcome. He gave us special suits and helped dress everyone up with the harness and parachutes, we warmed up a bit and he explained what we should do during the dive. We hopped on a small helicopter and as we were starting to go up I could felt more and more air on my face.
I was the first one to jump, my guide was walking me towards the edge, my breathing was harder and my heartbeat accelerated even more. Finally, we jumped, OMG, I screamed my lungs out until I was out of breath, it was only a few seconds until the parachute opened up, the view was beautiful, like nothing I’ve ever seen before, I was flying filled with joy and a smile I couldn’t erase for the whole day. We prepared for the landing and the moment my feet touched the ground I just wanted to do it again.
